Have you already enjoyed this experience?
This authentic tour is perfect for those who have had enough of the city and wish to head over to the country side for a couple nights at the coffee region, while combining colonial town of Santafe de Antioquia where the city of Medellin originally was founded. During 3 days and 2 nights enjoy a fantastic journey around Antioquia´s most significant villages such as: Santafe de Antioquia, Jerico, and Jardin. A comprehensive visit to 3 unique villages that describe best the essence of paisa (Medellin native) culture and traditions since early foundations, especially coffee traditions. By the end, you will be able to identify impressive prehispanic architecture while learning the principles of coffee production straight from the coffee collector.
Day 1 starts with pick up by your bilingual private guide, in the morning preferably, at the place you suggest for pick up. Then heading south of Medellin towards jolly Jerico town, home of mother Laura (latest pronounced Colombian saint by the Vatican), and home of the local icon of our culture which is the carriel. After a couple of hours driving through the Andes you will arrive at Jerico. Feel free to go inside the factory of these well-known carriels if you wish to admire such process that´s been passed along generations. There is enough free time to walk around and make stops along the way for bathrooms, photos, etc. Just make sure and bring Colombian pesos since not all stores take credit cards.
After a warm intro to the coffee zone at Jerico, tour heads to second village which is less than a couple of hours away driving by the sensational scenery of the San Juan and Cauca rivers. You are free to stop for lunch anytime or make stops, all meals are included as well as accommodation. In the afternoon hours, tour takes you inside a typical coffee farm so you can interact with a local collector and learn the basics of coffee production. Coffee is served throughout the journey so you can sample the best of local growers. Night time at town of roses (Jardin) is a sensational experience to share, especially around the main square where main cafes are. Perfect place to absorb the native atmosphere of coffee growers and muleteers who makes Paisas unique.
Finally, on third day tour heads west for an hour drive through the coffee region and leading us to colonial Santafe de Antioquia, where Medellin was initially founded in year 1.541. Cobblestone streets and phenomenal architecture from the Hispanic times will help you understand where Paisas come from as well as the foundations of their culture. At the end of day is time to head back to Medellin and we hope you have gotten a broad idea of these three fantastic villages. All meals and accommodation included for your convenience.
